In Chinese Medicine: Rosemary is a versatile warming Qi tonic reaching all three Jiao, with its fulcrum in the Upper Jiao. It expels cold phlegm from the Lung and boosts Heart Qi and Yang, and is one of the few oils described as tonifying the Gathering Qi of the chest, the Zong Qi. Its rising course of movement uplifts the Shen and sharpens the mind — an effect said to be enhanced by light inhalation during treatment.
