Botanical name: Pogostemon cablin
Plant part: The leafy herb
Origin: Indonesia
Production: Cultivated organic
Extraction: Steam distillation of the dried, slightly fermented leafy herb. This Patchouli is free of other plant additives such as Java patchouli, often used in Patchouli production.
Fragrance profile: A rich, smooth, full-bodied sweet woody, rooty oil with delicious velvety wine-like notes in the upper registers. This distillation is lighter than most others, while not being an actual 'light' type.
Psychological function: Patchouli induces centering, calmness and unobtrusive sensuality. For insecurity, worry and fearfulness, especially when associated with feelings of resignation or disconnection of any kind. Patchouli can also be really helpful with states of sensual and sexual inhibition or simple mind-body conflicts in general.
Topical use: Patchouli's emollient, skin-regenerating actions are used in dilution for dry, rough, cracked skin, wrinkles and scar tissue. This oil is useful for the oily skin type and can also help with dry, flaky or oily scalp.
Patchouli oil is also a good deodorant in general, e.g. with Sweet orange oil.
