There are times when oil selection seems an overwhelming task, or when something extra is needed in order to achieve excellent rather than just OK results. Applying energetic medicine to the use of essential oils can add a powerful new dimension to a healing arts practice. By helping us experientially fill in the gaps in our conventional knowledge, using essential oils on an energetic basis can create lasting shifts in treatment outcome. Whether we are treating actual conditions such as chronic stress, anxiety, fatigue, chronic pain, inflammation, etc., or simply working with preventive wellness, this vitalistic approach has the advantage of being able to correct the individual's systemic energetic imbalance that underlie symptoms of imbalance or disease. In this sense, treatment is more balanced and whole than when it aims purely to relieve symptoms — important as that is in itself.

Peter Holmes is a Medical Herbalist and Oriental Medicine practitioner with over 25 years' experience of using botanical and essential oil remedies in clinical practice. He has focused on both the physiological and psychological aspects of using essential oils, and has pioneered the use of essential oils with acupuncture and bodywork in particular. Peter’s training included studies with medical herbalist and pharmacist Henri Verdier in Paris, France, and medical herbalist Christopher Hedley in London, England; rounded out with numerous professional seminars around the world.
