USING
ESSENTIAL OILS WITH CHINESE MEDICINE
Genuine essential oils bring a powerful new dimension to a complementary
medicine practice. They are proving invaluable in complex or sticky
conditions, where they can create amazing shifts in treatment
outcome. Like acupoints and reflex zones, essential oils are electromagnetic
by nature and are governed by the laws of qi flow. By deeply
modulating neuroendocrine or jing shen functions through neuropeptide
activation, they can trigger profound changes in the individual,
as seen by immediate pulse changes.

Peter's deep knowledge and enthusiasm for essential oils made
what could have been on ordinary CEU class an amazingly enriching
experience. I was able to use the oils and the information the
very next day in my treatment rooms. Peter is on the forefront
of a whole new world in the energetic treatment of the body and
psyche.
Lisa Walker, L.Ac.
I just wanted to say thank you for the amazing class this
past weekend. It was phenomenal. I learned a lot on so many levels.
I am humbled and grateful to you for giving the information with
such passion, intelligence and patience ... Essential oils hold
the wisdom and spirit of the whole plant. Using the oils unlocks
some area of the brain in a sort of lock and key effect that is
otherwise unreachable, dissolving the barrier that exists for
healing to occur.

The
Energetics of Western Herbs:
Understanding
& Using Western Botanicals in Chinese Medicine
Understanding the true energetic properties of Western herbs is
the foundation for being able to advise the many patients who are
self-medicating with herbs such as Echinacea, Kava, Black cohosh,
St. John's wort, Skullcap and many others. Like Chinese herbs, Western
herbs possess specific energetic properties based on taste, warmth,
moisture, movement, etc. They address specific patterns of disharmony,
as well as presenting cautions and contraindications, including
those relating to medication. In addition, on this basis it is also
possible to combine Western herbs with Chinese herbs and formulas,
usually with enhanced therapeutic results. This seminar will explore
specific theories and ways of successfully including the time-tested
strengths of Western medical herbs to enhance the treatment of both
zang fu syndromes and Western conditions.

Just wanted to thank you again for the fascinating class you presented
this weekend. Your passion for herbs and essential oils is contagious;
I learned so much great stuff that I am sure will benefit my clients,
friends and myself for years to come. Also, I am grateful that
you opened us all up to a new world of delightful smells, since
most of us go about our day and forget to 'smell the roses.' My
nose will never be the same.
Mindy, CMT, Esalen Institute
I always come away from Peter's seminars with lots of specific
information that I can start using with my patients right away.
His wealth of clinical experience is drawn from many years of
practice and research, and is presented in such an organized way
that it's easy to follow, and he's able to transmit a great deal
of information in just two days.

both the physiological and psychological actions of points and
reflex zones without any additional burden to the digestive system.
The use of essential oils represents a perfect complement to acupuncture
and bodywork in general that is safe, user-friendly and extremely
effective.
This seminar will present the essential practical information
needed to start incorporating oils in the clinic. It is appropriate
for acupuncturists, shiatsu therapists, massage therapists and
other practitioners wishing to incorporate essential oils in their
clinical practice.

The use of essential oils in Chinese medicine answers the questions
and confusion many practitioners face when wanting to choose herbal
therapies. Namely, what to do when our patient doesn't fit into
a zang fu pattern? What to do when patients don't want to cook
herbs or use pills? Essential oils provide a pleasant, safe and
effective alternative and primary choice for patients and practitioners
alike. This course reminds us of the ancient use of these oils
as well as enhancing the modern practice of Chinese medicine.
